From the TDC Vice President’s Desk – Recap of Monthly Meeting

Happy Monday All!!

First and foremost before I give our recap, all the officers would like to thank everyone who took part of our Saturday morning and joined us for our meeting. We cannot accomplish anything for our community without community support. For those that could not make it, there is always a committee meeting you could come to, or there is always next month.

The pool committee has planned another day and time to make repairs needed on our pool. Friday April 18th is the day for pool clean up and to make repairs. Those that have volunteered to help make repairs, everyone is meeting at 9 am at the pool. Pool clean up will begin around 2 pm. We have had some kiddos volunteer to help with pool clean up. If you would like to volunteer, the more the merrier.

We had 6 of our local kids put together a presentation for a junior lifeguard program. These 6 put on an awesome presentation. The community and officers discussed this program. It will be an online class, when they finish they will receive a certificate. They will be scheduled at our pool to help our life guards. They will not be able to help with a water rescue, but they will have more eyes on the pool, which in turn helps our life guards. Rebecca Turner advised everyone that this is an awesome idea. The cost per kiddo is $125.00. Kurt Preuss graciously offered to pay for each kid to participate in this program. So, we will have 6 junior lifeguards at our pool, learning as they study. We would like to thank Kurt for his gracious donation!! We would also like to thank Barb McMullen for researching this program and helping these kiddos with their awesome presentation.

The event committee discussed events that are fast approaching. First. we have our Easter Brunch on April 19 th @ 10 am, @ the Lodge. There is a rumor that the Easter Bunny will make an appearance. The Easter egg hunt is after brunch.

May 3rd will be a Kentucky Derby Event/dance. This event will be @ the lodge and will be semi formal. We are sorry but kids are not allowed at this event. The cost is a $15.00 donation for singles and $25,00 per couple. There are flyers all over town that you can look for. Or you can contact Lorie Guiles for information. Tickets can be bought at the Busy Bee, the Mountain Market and the TDC office.

Our next big event will be Memorial Day Madness. The pool will be opening. We are setting up vendor booths in the Lodge parking lot. If you or anyone you know wants to have a booth please contact me and I will get you on our list, and make sure you have a spot. There is no cost to set up a booth. The TDC wants to update the designs of our t-shirts so we are having a t- shirt design contest. We will have two categories, adults and kids. All designs need to be turned into the TDC. The deadline for this contest is 10 am on May 24th. We will display all entries at the TDC booth, and the community will pick their favorite and the winners will have their design on our t-shirts, we will have them for sale at our July 4th activities. More to come.

Also, just a reminder, the TWSD meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month and the board will be making some pretty big decisions and we need as many people at those meetings.

As you can see, there is a lot going on in our community for our spring and summer months. If you are able to volunteer at any point, please lend a hand.

The finance committee meets everyone Monday night @ the TDC office @ 6 pm. The Garden Committee has regular meetings, contact Lorie Guiles for the next meeting date. The event committee meets once a month after the TDC meetings.

If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to contact any one of the TDC officiers.

Respectfully,

Terri Ratley
