From the TDC Vice President’s Desk – January Meeting Recap

Happy New Year all!
The Timberon Development Council held its first meeting of the new year.  We had many topics to discuss, so I am going to try and let everyone know what we discussed.
First, our secretary Lita Byrd has stepped down for personal reasons.  We are in need of a new secretary.  Lita has graciously agreed to train our new secretary.  So, if you are interested in this position please attend our next meeting and throw your hat in the ring.  Lita has done an amazing job in her position and she is going to be missed!!
Pool Committee
Cathie Johnson will be resuming her position as pool manager.  We are looking for 4 lifeguards, if you are interested in this position please contact Cathie, or a member of the TDC board.  We will be continuing the Junior lifeguard program, ages 11 – 13.  Once they finish this program and are old enough they can move into a lifeguard position.  If you have a child in that age bracket, and  they like to swim, please contact Cathie, or myself to sign up.
The Pool committee will be holding their meetings on the Saturdays that TDC meets after our meeting at the TDC office,  Please feel free to drop by and if you have any suggestions we would love to hear them.
Garden Committee
It’s winter, not much going on.  Contact Anne Marie if you want to volunteer.
Event Committee
All the events that were held in 2025 were a great success.  The committee is trying to decide what events they will hold this year.  The one thing this committee struggles with is volunteers.  We need our community to volunteer and help this committee out.  Most of the events held last year were handled by 4 or 5 volunteers and that is just not enough warm bodies,  Our events are growing as the community grows so please think about joining this committee.  If you are interested contact Lorie Guiles and I am sure she would greatly appreciate the help.
Community classes
We have some interesting community classes coming up.  One of our community members, Ed Carlson, is organizing these classes.  Attached to this email you will find a flyer for the upcoming sign language classes, being held by Gabbi (Holland) O”Callaghan.  This will not be one class, she is going to teach the whole series of classes for sign language.  The deadline for signing up is Jan. 23, 2026. Please let Gabbi know by text, 575-446-8182 if you want to join the class.  You can also contact Ed Carlson, loboelc39@gmail.com, or you can contact a board member and we will help you get signed up.
Ed is going to be offering shop classes designed for anyone 12 and up.  He has many topics he wants to teach, once again I have attached the flyer for these classes.  He is looking for donations of tools, so if you can help that would be awesome.  TDC is supporting these classes and has made a monetary donation to help the classes get started.
Last but not least, Josh McCurdy is once again going to open BSD Farms for another tour of one of our local business.  The last time he held this tour there were many of our residents who joined and they learned a lot of cool stuff.  The tour will be on 2/7/2026, at 11 am at BSD Farms.  If you want to join, please be there before 11 am because once the tour starts at 11, the doors are locked and you won’t be able to join them.  We had some community members that missed out because the doors were locked.
I believe I have covered all topics, if I missed something please let me know.  It was a very informative meeting.
Respectfully,
Terri Ratley
