From the TDC Vice President’s Desk: Monthly Meeting Update – October

Happy Saturday All,

The Timberon Development Council held their monthly meeting on October 11, 2025.  We discussed many different topics, you will find an outline below on what was discussed.

Welcome Center

We will be adding new merchandise in the office and also at the Busy Bee.  We will have hats, one design for men and one design for women.  We made a change to the mens hats, and Lorie was going to make that change and roll them out to our community members.  We have purchased an open sign, so everyone will know when our office is open.  We also have merchandise for sale at Busy Bee because we know our office hours are limited.

Pool Committee

We did not have the pool manager at the meeting.  But all that is needed is the final report for the pool season.  Cathy Johnson has agreed to be our pool manager for the 2026 pool season thank you Cathy.  Hopefully we will start planning the opening of the pool for 2026 earlier than this last pool season.

Community Garden

With the weather we have been having, the community garden has been waiting for a break in that weather so they can continue putting in the fence.  There has been a list on FB for the remaining items they need for the fence.  If you can donate any of those items we would be grateful.  If you haven’t seen the list, please contact Anne Marie or Randy Walden.  Our president, Chance Guiles, made a promise when this project was started.  He promised we would have something in the ground before the weather turned cold.  And, everyone, he kept that promise, so, way to go Chance, you had many volunteers help keep that promise,  so, to all those that have helped with this project, your Timberon Development Council thanks you, and you should be proud of the work that has been accomplished in such a short period of time.

Event Committee

We have many events coming up in the next couple of months….

  1. October 31st, 5pm to 10 pm, Game night will be hosting a special event for the kids. Lori Smith is putting together fun games for the kids, there will be a halloween costume contest, kids up to 15 years old.  There will be special prizes for the kiddos.  And you never know what kind of surprises could happen.  Thank you, Don and Lori for, for all your hard work on game nights.
  2. November 1st, 2pm the events committee will be holding an event up in the lot next to Busy Bee. There will be bouncy houses, trunk or treat will be held at this event.  Because this is an outside event, everything is weather permitting.  So, bring your ghosts and goblins and come have a good time.  (if you are available, we need volunteers for this event).  We also need candy donations, they can be dropped off at Busy Bee.
  3. The masquerade ball ( masks optional) will be held on November 14th. This will be a formal event with a sit down dinner.  Please no jeans, Jackets preferred, no ties required.  The events committee is working hard on this event, despite some roadblocks that were thrown in their way.  Donations are  $30.00 for a single ticket, or $50.00 for a couple, we are also requesting that you bring a new unwrapped toy to the event, for our Annual Christmas party.  You can make your donation at Busy Bee with their staff, or you can register on Eventbrite to make your donation.  (there will be a service charge if you use this site).  No matter how you make your donation you will be asked how you would like your steak cooked.  Yes, we will be serving steak with many other fixings.  So, please mark your calendars and come join us for a good time.

After these events the Events committee will continue working on our annual Christmas party.  The date has been set, December 20th.  As I  find out more details on this event, they will passed on to you, the community.

Community Classes

Ed Carlson puts together our community classes.  This morning, Otis Price will be holding his second flintknapping class at the fire station.  Ed is asking if anyone in our community has a special skill they would like to teach our community, please contact him  at  loboelc39@gmail.com.  We will continue holding these classes for our community.

These classes are usually held at the lodge, unless other arrangements are needed.  Ed arranges these classes for our community, so again, if you have a skill you would like to teach, please contact him., or contact me and I will get the information to Ed.

As you can see, The Timberon Development Council has many events in the future.  I know I say this frequently, but we need volunteers for all our events.  These events are growing and the need for volunteers is growing as well.  We want these events to be successful, so it is hard for just a few to make these events awesome.  Even if you can only spare an hour, we need that hour.  If you are interested in volunteering, contact Lorie Guiles and she will point you in the right direction.

If you have any questions, please contact one of the officiers, you can always email me and I will do my best to point you to the right person.

Our next meeting will be the second Saturday of the month, November 8th at 10 am @ the TDC office.  Just a heads up, we will not be holding a community meeting in December, so we can finalize plans and be with our families for the Holiday.

Respectfully,

Terri Ratley

Vice President
