Happy Tuesday all!! Hope everyone is having an awesome day. I am sorry this recap is coming so late, everyone understands life happens and you roll with it.
The meeting was held on June 14th, at 10 am. After the formalities were completed, we started the conversations with the 4th of July event. We released the new logos on our t-shirts. Everyone seemed to like them and Jeffrey was able to sell both the old t-shirts and the new logos as well. It was suggested we look into different merchandise, such as hats, koozies, stickers and so on. Our brochures have been finished and printed. I am getting them out into the community, slowly. We had the Honor Guard lead our parade, so I asked that we donate 100.00 to the Honor guard, this motion was voted on and everyone voted to make this donation.
The pool committee made a presentation. They are going to be holding a fundraiser to purchase a new vacuum system for the pool. So, if you see them trying to raise money, please support them. They are working hard, if we didn’t have them we wouldn’t have our beloved pool. There have been some changes within TWSD but they are still working with us to manage the pool.
The community garden was discussed by Lorie Guiles. The committee is working on obtaining a grant which is due by Sept. 31. The committee has a watering schedule and volunteers who are doing that watering. But with the rain we have been having they have not needed to water. The committee is still working on getting a fence put in. That is the next obstacle they need to overcome. The Community Garden still needs volunteers, so if you have a green thumb, or ideas please feel free to join their meetings. Contact Lorie Guiles if interested.
The events committee will be doing a fundraiser, backpacks for the kids, all kids, those that are homeschooled as well as those that go to public schools. The event will be August 2. The events committee needs donations of school supplies. Contact Lorie Guiles for any information you may need. Let’s help the kiddos going back to school have a great start to this school year.
The events committee discussed the 4th of July event. It was decided we would have a Labor day event on August 30th. The Busy Bee will be hosting another great band that night. Both the TDC and Neighborhood watch will be out selling food again. For more information on this event contact Lorie Guiless or Jessica Roberts. We will be holding a kids/family fun run on the morning of August 30th. We need as many kids as we can get to participate in this event. Distance is 3/4 mile, and ends with kids jumping in the pool when finished. For any further details, such as registration fees, please contact the events committee. The annual Putting on the Lips will end this weekend. Always a good show.
Ed Carlson will once again be hosting a community class, or should I say classes, this weekend. You will be learning the art of wood carving and burning. David and Joan Eerkes will be teaching these classes. If interested, contact Ed Carlson. There are very limited seats in these classes, but hopefully you can still sign up.
It has been decided we will hold another event for Halloween. Right now the events committee is meeting to discuss this event. When there are more updates they will be passed along to the community.
The one thing that I cannot stress enough is the need for volunteers. Pick a committee that interests you and go to a meeting, see where your expertise can be used. The events committee is usually planning several events at one time, so community members joining in is how these events are going to succeed. If you don’t know where to jump in, just get a hold of one of the officiers, we will happily point you in the right direction
I think that covers everything. You can watch the Events committees facebook page for updates on all events.
Respectfully,
Terri Ratley
Vice President
Timberon Development Council.
