From the TDC Vice President’s Desk – Update

Ladies and Gentlemen,

First things first……The Timberon Development Council and The Timberon Events Committee would like to thank everyone that participated, the vendors, the people who came out and visited us.  We had a great weekend, and best of all the vendors that participated are in agreement to come back for our next event, which will be 4th of July weekend, more details to follow in this email.

We would like to congratulate our winners of the t-shirt contest, Amber Adyell-Stubbs and Debbie Tomlinson.  We are actively working on the designs to have the t-shirts ready for the 4th of July Weekend.  So, when you are out enjoying the weekend, stop by our booth and check them out.  Hopefully everyone will like them as much as we did.

June 14 th will be our next monthly meeting.  This meeting will be at the Lodge, 1 Bobwhite Circle @ 10 am.  We have moved the location only for this meeting.  We had a candidate for Otero County Sheriff stop by Memorial Weekend,  He walked around, spoke with many people who were visiting and approached us about having a community meet and greet.  So, after our meeting Cesar Ramos will be holding a meet and greet for all of our community.  If you would like to meet him and talk to him, please plan on joining us.  We cannot fix issues in our community unless we speak up and we speak up to the right people.  We know he is just a candidate but he is interested in our community and wants to know if he is elected what he can do to help our community.  We all need to come together, stand together and speak up so please plan on attending if you can.

Onto the 4th of July weekend.  The traditional Pancake Breakfast will be held at the Fire Dept., the parade will follow the breakfast.  We need floats.  The Timberon Development Council will have theirs, The Timberon Neighborhood watch will have their float, and we have some others, also.  The theme of our parade this year is 80s movies.  If you are interested in building a float, Please Contact us and we will get you on our list.  Remember this is a contest, as well.  We will have judges who will award 1st, 2nd and honorable mentions.  Let’s show our love for our community and make this best parade we have had in the past few years,

Once again, we will be reaching out to all vendors to set up booths.  The location has changed and that will be discussed in our next meeting.  I will be reaching out to our vendors from Memorial Day and getting them on our list.  So, if you or you know someone who would like to join our vendors, once again, contact me and I will get you on our list.

Ed Carlson is once again holding a community class.  Otis Price has graciously stepped up and on Saturday will be holding a class on flintknapping.  He has a limited number of spots and they have been filled, but he may offer more than one class.  So, if this interests you, go to this class and observe.  Then, if Otis is willing to hold a second class, have Ed put your name on a waiting list and Ed will let you know if and when the next class is.  This was discussed in our last meeting and Ed had a full class before he walked out the door.  Ed loves holding these classes for our community, so, if you or you know someone who has an interesting hobby, please let Ed know and he will follow up with you.  The Timberon Development Council also loves to sponsor these classes, so, let’s keep em coming.  I am not sure of the time of the class, but Ed has posted on Facebook, and once i have the time and location, I will also post a reminder on Facebook.

Oooohhh, one last thing.  Our pool opened on time, TWSD and Timberon Development Council worked seamlessly to get our pool opened.  We have a junior lifeguard program in place and our kiddos are doing a great job in that role.  We would like to thank Barb McMullen for stepping up as a pool mom and overseeing this program.  We do need volunteers to help with our pool, we need people to help us run concessions, we need other pool moms to just fill in where we need help.  This is the community pool and we want everyone to be able to enjoy it.  We do have water aerobics, the pool can be rented for private parties, just get in touch with Lorie Guiles, or Penny Rose Hunter for those details.

Once again, thank you to our community for all the support you have given us.  We all love planning and holding all these events and there will be more to come.

Respectfully,

Terri Ratley

Vice President
